We all at some point in time wished to visit a place of our dreams. Your 20s might be the best time to pick up the bag, book that ticket and get going under the sun. Traveling is possibly the best thing you can do in your twenties and is a must without which a life might be left unfulfilled. Here are five fundamental reasons why you must travel in your twenties.
1. Nurture your soul
One day, you will leave this world behind… So, live a life you will remember… This was a famous song by Avicii. We can feel a lot of emotions, can form so many memories, can experience so many things. Wouldn’t it be wasting our life and youth if we don’t do any of that? But all those emotions, memories, experiences always fade with time anyway, why bother. Because only these things contribute to our individuality, they feed our soul. We are built by these abstracts, these can’t be shared or even described to others in their entirety. How the world sees us is shaped by this very world. A persona in an unexplored world, with no refined emotions, memories, and experience is not an inspiration to live for. Hence, traveling at young age shall nurture your soul and your twenties is just the right time to do that.

2. Experience of diverse
It is very hard to give a comprehension of how big this world is once a glimpse of its vast diverse features like culture, society, geography, season, etc. is witnessed. We have so many limited opinions and concepts. The problem is we can never know their limitations. A monotonous habitat shall never be able to lend us true wisdom.
Traveling quickly exposes us to so much diversity of so many things. We began to see how other people think, live, and understand the world from their own point of view. Cultures along a hill slope, in the desert, along the coast, in vast plains, or one in a valley surrounded by tall mountains from all sides are all living and bustling in their own way. Each one is unique, diverse in space, in time, and in life. Experiencing this diversity in so many dimensions is important and you will be glad you did that in your youth.
3. Discipline and spontaneous
Traveling is not about going to a hotel and visiting some niche places on a tourist bus. There is always so much planning going on just to complete a simple tour since a single mishap can easily ruin your stay. You must be willing to wake early, run across the city hungry, climb that slope, tired with all your bags. Even simple things like forgetting your toothbrush shall affect your travel experience along with bigger things like managing your finances. On trekking, if you don’t get up early and get to a checkpoint before time, then you might not be able to see that beautiful sunset over those white snow-crowned Himalayas and more crucially, might not be able to make it back to your base camp before dark. A lack you disciple can even put your well-being in jeopardy.

Along with discipline, comes flexibility. Things shall seldom go according to your planning and you must make use of your limited time, strength, money to make the best of your tour. This experience can only be learned by involvement; never by book. They shall hone your personality and your ability to deal with unpredictable life.
4. Novelty of traveling
Sure, we have seen many sunsets. But that feeling of sunset in Thar desert, sitting over a sand dune with a rainbow in my rear shall always be that one and only one. I know I can never do justice to that experience, no matter how many articles I write praising its beauty. Living in Jammu valley, along Tavi river, with clouds held at bay along the peaks of hills surrounding that valley was another one and only one along with many unique fortunate travels I did. These experiences shall be unique to me only, a treasure in my ownership for my entire life. The only way to get your own treasure is to get out there in the world and surely your twenties is the best time to start collecting one.
5. Physical and mental Prime
A decade earlier we were not that independent, required our parents’ permission even to go out, and couldn’t do what we want. And similarly, a decade later, we shall be not as fit, will have responsibilities of our family or don’t have time and energy to travel.
As we age we shall trust our-self with wisdom but not with time.
We might lose the young raw hunger to have new experiences altogether. Perhaps this travel shall keep our minds always young and grant us essential wisdom even as we age inevitably with time. This is the best time to live for ourselves, travel, take risks, climb that slope, swim in that lake near that fall, or run over those sand dunes. If not now, probably it can never be done and these untraveled roads shall always be our regrets. We get only a decade to be that free bird.
Don’t hold your traveling plans
So never wait for the right time to visit you. Have a bucket list on the go and get on scaling the world with your footsteps. Now you have the time, energy and that appetite for all those adventures. These adventures shall be your story in this world and shall sharpen your character.
