Most of us have a To-do-list. But here, I will discuss what’s there in my Not-To-Do List, and why you must have it too. Your Not-to-Do list may contain different lists from mine. But what’s more important is to have such a list. After all, It’s what you don’t do that matters more. When we have to do and deal with a lot of things, filtrating becomes quite important.
Here are the 6 things that were initially in my Not-To-Do list, but now have become my habit too.
1. Negativity
Negativity has become a common part of life, especially for the people of today’s modern world. And you can’t deny that. Everyone’s life is full of struggles, ups, and downs, and a mixed combination of other emotions. And they all have experienced emotions of stress, anxiety, worries, depression, etc at some point in their daily routine. But that doesn’t mean you start pushing the negativity hidden inside you into someone else who wants to be happy.
Almost in each and every post, I mention this factor. I am just allergic to negative emotions whether it comes from a person or a surrounding or a thing. If any of my acquaintances talk unnecessarily about how boring or stressful her life is, how bad the people around or anything similar to that, it’s sure certain that I won’t be any more interested in talking to her. I am a strongly optimistic person who tries to avoid negativity as much as possible. And if some people can’t tolerate this trait of mine, I can’t tolerate such emotional and energy vampires.
2. Small talks with random people online or offline.
As an introvert, my circle is quite small. Trying to be in touch with everyone is not my cup of tea. I am not always available for your random calls of time pass which leads to 0 results in the name of my productivity. Moreover, I am a textro-vert along with being an introvert. You can’t expect me to answer all calls especially those which I don’t find important. Call it my arrogance, ignorance, shyness, or anything; but the truth is that I don’t like these random chit-chats. So, it has to be on my Not-to-do list.
Well, there are many more misconceptions related to an introvert which I have already written in one of my articles, which you can read here.
3. Not taking rest or recharging myself.
I have seen people working overtime to complete their project deadlines, sacrificing their sleep. This is something that I can never do and don’t want to do. I can sacrifice my love but not my sleep. Sleeping is the permanent solution to all my temporary problems of stress, anxiety, or worries. That is the prior thing by which I can recharge myself after working for several hours. Not only this, but it is also one of the healthiest habits which are now so rare, especially among adults.

Rest, relaxation, and breaks are as important as your healthy and productive 8 to 10 hours of work. So for this, I need “Music” or “Meme therapy” from time to time. Escaping these all is something I don’t prefer doing.
4. Worrying about situations that I can’t control.
There are already millions of thoughts going on in our minds with each passing second and another million reasons to worry about. I just can’t keep worrying about situations that are beyond my capabilities or control. After all, I can’t do anything regarding that opportunity that I missed 4 years ago. Can I?
5. Trying even a bit to change someone else.
Caring about other’s opinions or trying even a bit to change their opinion is a complete waste of time. They don’t need your advice, explanations, or arguments at all. If you want someone to change, leave this work to a trained psychoanalyst. I don’t have that much capability or even can’t have that much energy to invest in caring about or changing their opinions.

6. Not devoting some time for myself i.e. “Me time”.
Spending some alone time with nature, reading books to drown me completely in the ocean of their vastness, knowledge, and fulfillment, the divine and spiritual practice of gratefulness– these are all the lists of my “Me time” which is as important to me as my work. Not spending time on them is not a choice for me.
What about you?
